Sakeenah Homes

Housing available in Brampton, Ottawa, Mississauga and Toronto, Sakeenah Homes’ mission is to establish a network of sheltering projects which provide a safe and nurturing environment for Muslim women and children so that they may be given equal opportunities to excel, grow, and thrive with respect and dignity.

Nelson House

Run by volunteers and a board of directors, residents are welcomed from diverse backgrounds. Often they are disadvantaged economically or are new Canadians who often lack access to the support of extended family and friends. They truly are reflective of Ottawa’s diverse community and are at Nelson House to build for themselves and their children a life free of violence.

Harmony House

Harmony House is a second-stage women’s shelter. We provide safe, affordable transitional housing for women and children who are survivors of violence. We are located in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Harmony House is the only second-stage shelter in Ottawa.

Interval House of Ottawa

Interval House of Ottawa empowers all persons who identify as women and their dependents. In partnership with the community, they provide safe shelter and support, intervention and prevention services, and advocacy to break the cycle of violence.

The Redwood

The Redwood offers safety, healing and opportunities for growth for women and their children fleeing abuse. The Redwood coordinates interpretation services for women through partnership with Barbra Schlifer Interpretation Services. Language Line is used for interpretation services as well. provides cross-cultural programming to reflect the diversity of clients it serves.

Imani's Place

Imani’s Place Founded by Lisa Ogbole, a survivor of domestic violence, Imant’s Place focuses on anti-discriminatory counselling and shelter. Her previous experiences in shelters showed her that racism was indeed a facet in shelters and with that knowledge fought to create a space for BIPOC.

Nisa Homes

Nisa Homes is a group of transitional homes (long-term shelters) for immigrant, refugee, non-status and Muslim women who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.Nisa Homes is a place for women to live comfortably and feel safe in a supportive home environment, to explore their cultural identity, and to directly connect with their community. Culture is vital to immigrant, refugee and Muslim women, and as such Nisa Homes works hard to provide with a sense of self and personal identity.

Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis

An organisation focused on directing women in the Guelph-Wellington area. They have offices in Erin, Fergus, Mount Forest and Palmerston. GWWC has a shelter called Marianne’s Place. It is an accessible emergency shelter where all women and their children who are experiencing physical, sexual, emotional or financial abuse and/or stalking or human trafficking are welcomed. It’s more than just a safe place to stay.

Geraldton Family Resource Centre

The Geraldton Family Resource Centre is a 10 bed women/children’s shelter which operates 24/7, 365 day. They serve the areas of Fort Hope, Marten Falls, Aroland, Nakina, Geraldton, Longlac, Caramat, Ginoogaming and Reserve 58 as well as Jellicoe, Beardmore and any other clientele who need to access our service regardless of jurisdiction.
